Marble - Marble is a metamorphic rock composed of recrystallized carbonate minerals such as Calcite. It comes in many colours and forms and from many sources around the world and the characteristic swirls and veins are due mainly to various mineral impurities such as clay, silt, sand, and iron oxides.

These veins are what give Marble its natural beauty but are also the reason why many marbles are fragile. The high porosity of Marble also means it is prone to staining. Marble is frequently used in bathrooms and sometimes for kitchen work surfaces. However Stone System do not recommend the use of Marble in the kitchen environment because it is so porous but also because it is not as strong as Granite or Quartz.
